ROLE DESCRIPTION

As a Systems Engineer at Managed Security Services team, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of Odyssey’s and its customer’s Information Technology systems. You will work closely with our team to support and maintain our network infrastructure, servers, and software applications. Your role will be pivotal in identifying and resolving technical issues, implementing system upgrades, and proactively ensuring the smooth operation of our IT environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • System Administration:
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, backups and security enhancements.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Active Directory Management:
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of Active Directory, including user account creation, group policies, and security settings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory-related issues.
  • Network Management:
  • Help configure and manage network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Security Measures:
  • Implement and maintain security policies and systems, including firewall rules, intrusion prevention policies, email security and endpoint security software.
  • Stay up-to-date on security best practices and assist with vulnerability assessments and remediation.
  • User Support:
    Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues and ensuring a seamless IT experience.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain accurate system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with the IT team and other departments to analyse and address their IT needs.
KNOWLEGDE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Understanding of network protocols and configurations.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Cloud Technologies knowledge will be considered a plus.
  • Basic Understanding of best practices and principles in system and network security.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant experience as a systems engineer will be considered as an advantage.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA) can be a plus.As a Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow within the organization while gaining valuable experience in the IT field, with exposure to both on-premises and cloud-based technologies. This role serves as a foundational step toward more advanced positions in system administration and IT management.
