IthacaLabs has maintained  the Threat Level (Critical) adding a new observation:  An attack is expected imminently. Maximum protective security measures to meet specific threats and to minimize vulnerability and risk. Critical may also be used if a terrorist attack is expected seeking to destroy, incapacitate, or exploit critical infrastructures in order to threaten national security, cause mass casualties, weaken the economy, and damage public morale and confidence.

 

In the wake of the anticipated cyber offensive by LulzSec Black and their associates, several Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks have targeted critical infrastructure sectors in Cyprus. While some of these attacks have been publicly disclosed and successfully mitigated through rapid response efforts, increased vigilance remains essential. Further cyber attacks may still emerge, and the previous incidents could act as a diversion for larger-scale and more sophisticated attacks. Organizations in Cyprus should continue to strengthen their cybersecurity protocols and ensure robust defence mechanisms are in place to address any further attacks.
